Kamasi Washington (b.1981) is a Los Angeles-based saxophonist, composer and bandleader who has emerged as a trail blazer on the contemporary and progressive jazz scene since the release of his ambitious, critically acclaimed 3-CD set ‘The Epic’.

He has performed and recorded with an impressive array of major artists across many genres and has appeared at high profile rock and pop festivals. The diversity of musical influences including soul, jazz, funk, hip-hop and experimental electronic music has brought himself and his LA cohorts -WEST COAST GET DOWN collective a new generation of black music fans.
