Erica Abi Wright (b.1971) known as Erykah Badu is an award winning American singer-songwriter, record producer and actress. Influenced by R+B, 1970’s soul and 1980’s hip-hop, Badu became known as the ‘Queen of Neo-Soul’ in the 90’s and 2000’s. With vocals compared with that of jazz legend Billie Holiday her work incorporates funk, soul and jazz styles, sampling and electronica, he has risen to become one of pop’s most eccentric and influential figures. Despite being a few years since the release of her last album, she can still be seen at the top of line-ups at festivals.
